Dr. Brandi Karisch

Brandi from Starkville, MS currently serves as the State Beef Cattle Extension Specialist for Mississippi State University. She and her family own MBK Cattle and raise Simmental, SimAngus, and Beefmaster cattle. Brandi attended Louisiana State University where she was a member of the Livestock Judging Team and earned her B.S in Animal Science. Continuing her focus on beef cattle, and with an emphasis on nutrition, she earned her M.S. and Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. In her current role, she works to provide research and training for beef cattle producers in Mississippi and across the southeast to enable them to be more profitable and sustainable and improve the health and quality of the cattle in the region. In addition, she also oversees the University’s beef cattle herds, and stocker cattle research programs.

Brandi and her husband started MBK Cattle from scratch in 2012. The main focus of their cowherd is the production of replacement females, however, they have recently started MK- Beef with a focus on direct-to-consumer beef sales. Cattle are marketed off the farm as well as through several consignment sales throughout the year.
