The youngest of four daughters, Meryl was born and raised in the rural village of Mer Rouge, Louisiana, consisting of less than five hundred people. Meryl attended the University of Georgia where she completed a degree in International Affairs with a minor in Spanish. Declining the opportunity to attend Oxford University, Meryl chose instead to return home to assist her father and continue the family rice business.

The Kennedy Family Agribusiness includes rice farming, drying, milling, grain storage, grain marketing, land management, and real estate. Under Meryl’s leadership, the company has won numerous awards and has been recognized both locally and nationally.

Meryl and her husband, Peyton Farr, reside in Mer Rouge with their two small children. In her spare time, she enjoys mentoring young women pursuing careers in agriculture and speaking to local civic organizations.
